September 10, 2024

On Wednesday 11th – Saturday 14th September, RelyneGI will be exhibiting at BEVA Congress 2024 at the ACC Liverpool at King’s Dock in Liverpool alongside MerlinVet. We will be at Stand D5.

Visit our stand to speak to the team, find out the benefits of Relyne, and play our cornhole game. We will be hosting a giveaway to win a Relyne dryrobe, while there will be opportunities to speak with the team about the FluroGlide range available at MerlinVet. Here’s a sneak peek of what to expect with our stand from last year:

Once again, Relyne will be sponsoring the Black Tie Dinner & Dance on Friday night, where we have a branded selfie pod for guests to strike a pose with a special “photo finish” backdrop. We’ll have props, Relyne coasters, and more to enhance your evening experience! Taking place in Hall 4 of the ACC from 19.30 on Friday 13th September, it’s set to be another great night with a three-course dinner followed by live music and dancing. More information is available here.

BEVA Congress runs across six streams covering all aspects of equine science. There will be lectures, workshops, and practicals, with plenty of thought-provoking CPD, as well as opportunities to network with fellow equine specialists. Socials include various happy hours, the welcome reception on the Wednesday, RunBEVA , and much more, while all attendees will be able to access the recordings to all lectures for six months after the conclusion of BEVA Congress.

About Relyne:
Recommended by vets and professional riders, RelyneGI is a 100% natural formula of hyaluronic acid and beta glucan that supports healthy digestion in horses. Our new RelyneGI is now made with TBG-136™ Schizophyllan, an immune-boosting Beta Glucan that stimulates the immune system to work on targeted areas of the horse’s stomach. The high molecular weight hyaluronan coats and protects the stomach’s lining. It’s odourless and tasteless for adding to feed and offers long-term support for all horses in maintaining normal gastric function and promoting well-being in equine athletes.

Relyne aids in promoting gastric well-being in horses that may not respond to traditional therapies. Relyne is safe for continuous daily use while promoting healthy stomach pH and digestion. It does not alter gastric pH like PPIs and H2 blockers and therefore does not affect digestion and nutrient absorption. Ideal for long-term use in horses with risk factors for gastric discomfort. Relyne can be used in conjunction with other gastroprotectants, medications and supplements, making it an ideal choice for challenging cases.

The scheme’s aim is to ‘ensure the provision of an adequate veterinary service to prevent & eradicate animal diseases for all animals kept for agricultural purposes and belonging to crofters and others of like economic status.’ The Highlands & Islands Veterinary Services Scheme supports large animal veterinary practices in remote areas of the Scottish Highlands and Islands to provide practical veterinary cover to crofters and their animals, which is vital in the role of preventing & identifying anim al disease. Clarification on the Law in Scotland Andrew Voas, Scottish Government Veterinary Head of Animal Welfare spoke on the updated legislation of lamb tail docking and castration. As distributors of Numnuts , the MerlinVet team were able to demonstrate to vets the advantages and ease of use of the device, thus being able to support their farmers when the time comes later in Spring. Andrew Voas reaffirmed that it is legal in Scotland to use rings for lamb marking up to 12 weeks of age provided that a local anaesthetic is used. Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) officers in attendance stated that now that there is a legal and approved means of applying local anaesthetic at the time of ringing, then farms who are ringing at over 7 days and not using local anaesthetic will be penalised. This clarification brings significant relief to Scottish farmers and veterinarians seeking reassurance on the legality of using Numnuts. This innovative method minimises the pain and distress typically associated with traditional rubber ringing procedures. Scottish legislation allows this practice up to 3 months, ensuring adherence to animal welfare standards and providing a compassionate alternative to older methods. Current legislation is more restrictive in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, with rubber rings for castration or tail docking being prohibited on lambs older than 7 days. We are hopeful that the situation will change - please consider petitioning your local MP or NFU Representative to align the legislation across the UK. Numnuts® Numnuts® is a 2-in-1 device that administers an Elastrator® ring along with a pre-calibrated dose of local anaesthetic. This device makes giving fast-acting targeted pain relief for castration and tail docking of lambs easy, fast, and safe. The Numnuts® Device allows farmers and vets to provide best practice without compromising on safety and efficiency. No other device exists that allows farmers and vets to provide targeted pain relief to lambs during tail docking and castration. Hector Low from Stornoway Vets, pictured below with Jane, won the prize raffle competition on the stand, taking home a bottle of MerlinVet-branded Caorunn Gin.
